FAQ

Can I bring my infant/child? Is there childcare?

Both the dynamics of Challenge and its pace do not make a good fit for having infants or young children in attendance, even at a limited capacity, and we do not provide childcare. Therefore, we respectively ask all groups to adhere to the Challenge age minimum (students entering 7th grade).

Can you accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions?

All of our meals are nut– and shellfish-free. We also provide gluten-free and vegan meal plans upon request. (In the registration process, youth leaders must choose a meal plan for each individual.)

If our church is not in the EFCA, can we attend Challenge?

Yes, absolutely!

Is there a student-to-leader ratio we need to follow?

Challenge requires a 10:1 student to leader ratio, per gender. For example, if you have four female students and six male students coming, you would need one leader of each gender.

Are there logos or photos I can use to promote Challenge?

You can download a variety of Challenge media elements—including logos, promotional photos, and graphics—from the Resources section of our website.

What COVID-19 precautions can we expect at Challenge 2022?

Visit our COVID-19 Planning page for current information about our health and wellbeing plan for Challenge 2022.

Can students who graduated in 2021 come to Challenge 2022?

Yes! Typically, Challenge is open to students entering 7th grade through completion of 12th grade. However, because Challenge 2020 was a virtual experience, and considering some churches’ Challenge attendance pattern, the class of 2021 might have missed their opportunity to attend a face-to-face Challenge. We want to give these students that opportunity, so we are excited to extend the grade limit and invite the class of 2021 to join us at Challenge 2022.

How to register students from the class of 2021:

  1. Add each student as a person on your UltraCamp account.
    • Mark him/her as a child (not an adult).
    • Choose new graduate for his/her grade level.
  2. Register them for Challenge 2022 via UltraCamp.

Registration

How do I register for Challenge?

Churches register their group through a website called UltraCamp with an account we’ve created for them. Download our UltraCamp How-To Guide for step-by-step instructions.

I don’t remember or know my church’s UltraCamp login information. Can you help?

If you don’t remember your login information, please open UltraCamp and follow their “Forgot your login information?” prompts.

If you’re a new youth leader at a church that has attended Challenge in the past but you don’t have the account login info, contact us at challenge@efca.org.

If your church doesn’t yet have an UltraCamp account, please submit our account request form.

What is the registration rate for leaders?

The registration rate for leaders and students is the same.

Can I register more people later?

If you need to register additional people after you first register, you simply submit another registration on UltraCamp. You are able to register people through June 2.

To help our tracking, please submit reservations in larger batches rather than one-off submissions.

Do we need to pre-register for afternoon options (e.g. outreach, equipping labs, etc.)?

Outreach: Pre-registration is required. As churches register for Challenge on UltraCamp, they have the option of also registering for outreach. Read our full outreach registration instructions.

Equipping Labs: No pre-registration.

Recreation: No pre-registration, except for tournaments on Thursday, July 8. Sign ups for these tournaments will occur during Wednesday breakfast; look for the sign-up table in the dining hall!

ReachGlobal Experience: Pre-registration is required. As churches register for Challenge on UltraCamp, they have the option of also registering for the ReachGlobal Experience. Churches will also be able to register onsite as space allows.

Learn more about afternoon options on our Schedule & Activities page.

What is your refund policy?

Through June 2, 2022, we will grant refunds (minus your deposit*).
After June 2, 2022, we cannot guarantee a refund; they will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

*Deposits ($100/person) for Challenge are due at time of registration and nonrefundable. Deposits can be transferred to another attender in your group (i.e. switch people) or to your overall account balance, but they are not refundable.

How do I reserve hotel rooms?

You will be able to reserve hotel rooms after you register for Challenge. After registering, your group’s main contact (as listed in UltraCamp) will receive an automatic confirmation email that will have a confirmation packet attached. This packet provides important logistical information to help your group prepare for the conference, including instructions for reserving hotel rooms. Hotel rooms are reserved through a site called Passkey; a link to open the Challenge Passkey site is in the confirmation packet.

Does the hotel charge my credit card right away after I make the reservation?

The hotels do not charge the credit card provided at time of booking unless there is a late cancellation or a no-show. Thus, in most cases, the card provided at time of booking is solely used to guarantee the reservation. The week of Challenge, all attendees are asked for a method of payment upon hotel check-in.
